Souhegan Friends Meeting A Quaker Congregation in Southern New Hampshire

PLEASE NOTE New Schedule for 2024

Dear (F)friends: In recent months, the core of active attenders at Souhegan has shrunk, as life circumstances and spiritual seeking have diminished our numbers. In addition, during the coming summer, several of our regulars will be traveling.   In order to assure adequate attendance during this time, we have agreed on specific days for meeting for worship, one per month, to be held at the Odd Fellows Hall in Milford.  These are listed below.  You are encouraged to put them on your  calendar! Contact us with questions, or to confirm a meeting time.

Meeting dates for the rest of 2024:

April 28 May 12th June 16th
JULY NO MEETINGS.
August 18th. September 8th October 6th
November 10th December 8th

Who We Are

The Souhegan Friends is an active Quaker community committed to fellowship, exploration of faith and service to our world. We gather in worship each Sunday at 10:30 am at the Odd Fellows Hall, located at 49 Union Square, Milford NH 03055. We are a preparative meeting of Weare/Henniker Monthly Meeting.

Worship: an Inward Focus

Our service is unprogrammed, which means that we gather in mindful silence reaching inward to connect with the divine teacher that is accessible to each of us. In many meetings this silence is unbroken as we listen for the guidance and renewal that are meant for us alone, or for the gathered body, In other meetings, one or more people may “speak out of the silence” when he or she is moved to share a message with the community.

Service: An Outward Expression

As Quakers we believe that we are called by Christ’s example to go into the world to serve others. The Souhegan Friends Meeting has adopted the social commitments of the New England Yearly Meeting as our own. Currently, our efforts are focused on Witnessing for a Just & Sustainable World and the many forms that may take, such as earthcare, racial, social and economic justice, and education.

Welcoming to All

We hold each and every person in love and respect, and welcome everyone to our meeting.  Whether you are a Quaker visiting our area or someone who has never attended a Quaker meeting, please join us. Our meeting is open to all.
